ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Kicks Off Tomorrow
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, is going to start from Feb 7. The cricket’s biggest event will end in March 8, 2026.
India and Sri Lanka are going to co-hoste this event with matches scheduled across multiple venues in both the countries.
20 teams, divided across four groups will be competing for the title.
3 matches are scheduled to be held on opening day including defending champion and co-host India beginning their campaign against USA.
The tournament has been overshadowed by controversy following Bangladesh’s withdrawal from the World Cup. The Bangladesh Cricket Board opted not to send its team after rejection of their request to shift matches outside India citing security m concerns.
Following Bangladesh’s exit, Scotland was invited into the tournament as a replacement.
Political tensions also brewed into the tournament when Pakistan announced it will boycott its group stage match against India which is scheduled to be held on 15th February citing Government’s order. While Pakistan remain part of the tournament and will play their other matches, the decision to skip the India match has triggered widespread controversy.
